About MissaComputing

I am a freelance website designer and Crystal Reports developer. I enjoy creating websites in my spare time, although I would love for it to be my full-time career. My full-time job is working in the IT Industry at a large corporation where I primarily focus on database reporting using Crystal Reports and the customizable reporting functionality within Remedy and Symposium. My technical experience comes from many years in the IT industry. I am very experienced in requirements gathering, managing projects, and being able to provide solutions for end users. I am very detail oriented and strive for perfection.

I am very knowledgeable about designing what content and layout should go on a website, as well as creating original graphics in Adobe Photoshop. I concentrate heavily on my client's requirements and I always offer recommendations and suggestions to make their site truly remarkable and unique.

An inspirational design concept I sometimes use is similar to "people watching." I like to see how people dress differently, various choices of hairstyles and colors, distinctive mannerisms, and various ways of pronouncing words. The same applies with website design. I surf the web frequently and I spot various ideas I really like. I do have my own original ideas but I also enjoy creating layouts filled with a collage of many different websites. So if you see different aspects of websites that you like, I can incorporate similar concepts on your site. Visualization is key and it's important that I fully understand exactly what it is you would like to see on your site. I encourage my clients to send me examples, sketches, pictures...anything that comes to mind.

My website development knowledge is self-taught. I started playing with website development several years ago by building a personal website to share with family and friends. Then I started building websites for friends' businesses. Now I build personal and business websites for people mostly by referrals, as I do not advertise my services very often.

I also enjoy teaching my peers design fundamentals and "tricks." I feel it is very important for people to share their knowledge and resources with others. One of the best ways to learn how to code websites is to dissect other people's websites and coding, providing that you can view the CSS Style Sheet and HTML. I highly recommend novices to grab a program such as Dreamweaver or Front Page and view the coding as you make changes. Or just simply open a website in notepad and keep refreshing the HTML page in your browser as you make changes.
